- New Breuckelen is is an original electric quartet utilizing standard jazz forms and language with a rock sensibility and indie and pop grooves. The concept is also partially based around my use of guitar effects on the trumpet in an attempt to break new sonic boundaries. I had been performing with the members of this group for more that 15 years in many different contexts, so it made perfect sense to bring us all together and create this project back in 2007. Look for our debut recording to be released later this year.
- Ikebe Shakedown is an Brooklyn based Afro Funk group I have been a co-leader of since 2008. Often touted as one of this more important original up and coming afrobeat/funk/soul groups on the New York scene. Ikebe, rather than becoming a revival band, chooses to take influence from the great African funk movement of the 70′s in attempt to create a fresh sound. Look for Ikebe’s follow up full length LP on Ubiquity Records this spring.
- Keep your Soul Together is a favorite side project of mine that performs hits from the great soul jazz period of the 60′s and 70′s. A jazz quartet/quintet based in groove and funk. - This is a three piece horn section I am happy to be a part of consisting of Morgan Price (woodwinds), Nadav Nirenberg (tronbone), and myself.
